Kristina Kotzan scored 11 points and Libby Ryan contributed with her defense as the Wildcats had a strong third quarter and then held off stingy Lake Forest 39-30 in a North Suburban Conference game in Libertyville on Tuesday night.

Barrington junior guard Sophie Swanson displayed a look of satisfaction after her 3-pointer swished through the nets midway through the fourth quarter on Saturday. Swanson scored 21 of her game-high 31 points to lead Barrington to a 61-45 win in the Midwest Hoops Spotlight Invitational at Trinity High School.

Rachel Rule scored a game-high 15 points, while her sister Kate added 7 and Maryland-recruit Emily Fisher chipped in with 12 as Libertyville defeated visiting Conant 45-28 in the championship game of the Libertyville girls holiday tournament on Thursday night.

From the first quarter on, it was pretty much a low-scoring, defensive struggle when host Lake Zurich faced Libertyville Thursday night in North Suburban Conference girls basketball action.

All eyes were on two players during Thursday’s game. And both were easy to spot. Libertyville’s Emily Fisher and Hersey’s Katy Eidle were the main draw in their first high school girls basketball matchup against each other. Eidle won the first of many battles between the two highly touted players, scoring a team-high 22 points to go with 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals in a 57-46 win in the Bison Classic in Arlington Heights.

Truly, it’s a win-win combination. That’s what Emily Fisher had in mind with her decision and commitment to play college basketball at the University of Maryland. The Libertyville junior made her decision on Monday and she’s the first to make that commitment in the 2023 class for the Terrapins.
