Harris, Downers North roll past Glenbard South

Eleanor Harris is one of many Downers Grove North girls basketball players who have been under the weather lately. Yet that didn’t stop the 6-foot-1 senior center from making Glenbard South feel ill on Wednesday. Harris tallied a game-high 15 points on 6-for-7 shooting, and added 3 steals as the second-seeded Trojans knocked off Glenbard South 40-18 in the opening round of the Bill Neibch Falcon Classic at Wheaton North.

Barrington holds off South Elgin for sectional crown

Barrington’s slice of the pie was bigger than South Elgin’s Thursday in the Class 4A girls basketball sectional final at DeKalb. South Elgin had a nice size piece in the first half. But it was Barrington that came away with all the cream as the Fillies survived with a 58-51 win.

If you’ve ever been to a Streamwood girls basketball game, then you know that Sabres’ coach George Rosner is a big fan of iconic musician Neil Diamond. Rosner blares Diamond music during every practice – and even at games now and then – and has been for 40-plus years. Rosner is retiring from coaching at the end of the Sabres’ season.
