Tuesday's Fox Valley Conference boys basketball tournament quarterfinal scheduled for 7 p.m. between Dundee-Crown and Cary-Grove was canceled because of COVID-19-related protocols.

D-C boys basketball coach Lance Huber confirmed that Tuesday's game was canceled because of "COVID-19-related issues," but did not say if one or both teams had COVID-19-related problems, if the cancellation was because of a positive test result or if the Chargers' season was over.

D-C athletic director Steve Gertz could not be reached for comment Tuesday evening.

C-G boys basketball coach Adam McCloud said his team has not had any COVID-19 issues and will continue its season Thursday at Huntley in the FVC tournament semifinals. Third-seeded Huntley beat seventh-seeded Crystal Lake South, 50-24, Tuesday to advance in the end-of-season tournament. The other semifinal matches No. 1 seed Burlington Central and No. 4 Jacobs.

The updated tournament bracket sent to FVC coaches, athletic directors and media already has Thursday's consolation game between D-C and Crystal Lake South listed as a "forfeit" for D-C.

Three other FVC teams have been forced to miss games this year because of COVID-19 protocols. Crystal Lake South's boys, Crystal Lake Central's girls and Dundee-Crown's girls all missed multiple games when they were forced to quarantine.

Crystal Lake South's boys and Dundee-Crown's girls have since returned. Crystal Lake Central's girls team is scheduled to play McHenry in its first game back Wednesday.
