The Daily Herald DuPage County Girls Basketball All-Area Team

Taylor Charles, Montini

The sophomore forward is one of the top players in her class in the nation and was voted AP Class 3A all-state honorable mention. At 6-foot-2 she brings length to the Broncos' formidable defense. She is averaging 9.5 points and 4.9 rebounds for a Class 3A semifinalist ranked in the state's Top 10 all season but has just begun to scratch the surface. "Once she realizes that potential she could be very, very good," coach Jason Nichols said.

Lauren Cohen, Glenbard South

The junior guard earned all-Upstate Eight Conference honors. She was MVP at Wheaton North and all-tournament at Glenbard East. Cohen averaged 13.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 3.3 assists. "Lauren is one of the most versatile players in the area excelling at both ends of the floor. She can score and leads her teammates to easy baskets while shutting down the opponent's best player," coach Morgan Eufrasio said.

Stephanie Dasbach

Stephanie Dasbach, Willowbrook

The 6-foot-1 junior forward averaged 14 points, 13 rebounds, 3 blocks and 1.7 steals a game. She was all-West Suburban Conference and all-tournament at Wheaton North and Willowbrook. Stephanie was consistent, giving us a double-double against double- and even triple-teams all season," coach Terry Harrell said.

Ellie Gross

Ellie Gross, Downers Grove North

The senior guard led the Trojans to the best season in program history, reaching the sectional final and finishing 28-7. She averaged 10.7 points, 3.8 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 steals. "Ellie Gross has been an incredible player for us, but what makes her truly special is how great of a leader, teammate and competitor she has always been. She has raised the bar for our program. Her relentless work, attitude and desire to compete in every aspect of the game has changed the culture of our program," coach Stephan Bolt said.

Kendall Holmes

Kendall Holmes, Benet

The 5-foot-11 senior guard will play at DePaul next season. She averaged 14.4 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists a game and reached the 1,000-point mark this season and was voted to the AP Class 4A all-state second team. She made 81% of her free throws. "Kendall is an all-around basketball player. She leads the team in scoring and steals and is second in rebounds. And she is her best when the game is on the line, hitting multiple game-winning shots for us the past two years. Kendall is ice cold under pressure," coach Joe Kilbride said.

Lauren Huber

Lauren Huber, Glenbard East

The junior guard was a unanimous all-Upstate Eight Conference pick and all-tournament at both the Rams' Rachel Bach tournament and at Sandburg. Huber averaged 17.8 points a game and 7.8 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.2 assists. With 934 points she is on pace to become the Rams' all-time leading scorer next season. "New York University is getting a great player and person who will make an immediate impact on their program," coach Kristi Faulkner said.

Claire Hyde

Claire Hyde, Wheaton North

The athletic guard led the 20-win Falcons with 15 points a game and in minutes played. She also made 60 3-point shots. "I think as a sophomore she's had an unbelievable year," coach Dave Eaton said. "The best way I can describe it is mature. I thought she's really grown up, been able to handle some pressure and be able to get done offensively what we need to get done with everybody trying to take her out."

Greta Kampschroeder

Greta Kampschroeder, Naperville North

A multidimensional player being recruited by major Division I universities, the junior averaged 17.2 points and 8.8 rebounds a game. She was unanimous all-DuPage Valley Conference and voted to the AP Class 4A all-state first team. "You can see how mature she has gotten and how much she is making everybody else better around her by maintaining her composure and knowing when to take over," coach Erin Colletti said.

Sara Krissinger

Sara Krissinger, York

The senior guard was a key cog in one of the Dukes' best seasons. She averaged 10.9 points and 5.5 rebounds. "Sara has been our rock on the floor in both practices and games for the past two seasons. She is the most consistent player that I have ever coached. When she steps on the floor you know exactly what you will get each night and as a coach there is nothing more comforting than that," coach Brandon Collings said.

Gabi Melby

Gabi Melby, Naperville Central

The junior guard was unanimous all-DuPage Valley Conference and led the Redhawks in scoring with 16.3 points a game and is the fourth Redhawk to score her 1,000th point before her senior season. She was a team leader and had the drive to push the team. "She was really the engine that made our team go. Her hustle and skill allowed her to be our leading score and leading rebounder," coach Brett Love said.

Sydney Molis

Sydney Molis, York

The junior guard/forward averaged 7.8 points a game in one of the York program's best seasons. "Sydney's ability to score continues to improve as she put together some dominate games this season. Sydney is a very gifted scorer, but what many don't realize is that she has become a great defender who shut down some of the top players in the area this season," coach Brandon Collings said.

Kendall Moriarty

Kendall Moriarty, Benet

The 6-foot junior guard committed to play at Nebraska. Moriarty was all-East Suburban Catholic Conference, voted Class 4A AP all-state honorable mention and rated among the best in her class in the country. "Kendall's length, quickness and tenacity make her one of the best perimeter defenders to ever play for Benet. Her biggest improvement this year was her offensive efficiency, shooting 50% from two, 45% from the arc and 72% from the FT line," coach Joe Kilbride said.

Darrione Rogers

Darrione Rogers, Lake Park

A repeat selection as All-Area captain and to the AP Class 4A all-state first team, Rogers passed the 2,000-point mark this season and is second on the Lancers' all-time scoring list. She averaged 26.2 points, 9.7 rebounds and 4 steals a game. She has led her team to the state semifinals. The DePaul recruit also set numerous school all-time and single-season records.

Brooke Schramek, Benet

The 6-foot-1 forward, voted to the AP all-state second team in Class 4A, will play at Wisconsin next season. She averaged 13 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals this season. "Brooke's size, quickness and skills make her a matchup nightmare for most opponents. She can post up or shoot the 3, leads the team in blocks and rebounds, is second in assists and third in steals. She is one of those rare players who can take over a game without scoring," coach Joe Kilbride said.

Hannah Schuringa

Hannah Schuringa, Timothy Christian

The junior 6-foot forward was the co-MVP of the Metro Suburban Red this season and tournament MVP at Lisle. This season she became the fifth Timothy player to reach the 1,000-point mark. Maggie Stutelberg

Maggie Stutelberg, Glenbard West

An all-West Suburban Silver player, the 6-foot junior guard averaged 14 points and 4.9 rebounds a game while making 48% of her shots and 74% of her free throws. She made tremendous strides from her sophomore to junior seasons to become a three-dimensional scorer who can drive, pull up and hit the 3 with range," coach Kristi Faulkner said.

Sophie Sullivan

Sophie Sullivan, Montini

The sophomore point guard is averaging 8.2 points and made 55 3-pointers for a Class 3A semifinalist ranked in the state's Top 10 all season.
