Chicago Hope ends Christian Liberty's memorable season

Chicago Hope Academy ended the finest girls basketball season in Christian Liberty history with a 64-49 win over the Chargers on Thursday night in the championship game of the Class 1A Collins Academy sectional.

Destine Lovett's 20 points paced Hope while sophomore Melissa Castro led the Chargers with 14 points.

Christian's Liberty's record-setting season ended with a record of 29-4.

The Chargers had won a school-record 28 straight games heading into their first sectional title game appearance since joining the IHSA in 2009.
