Fremd's Hill earns MVP honor

Olivia Hill of Fremd is this week's Daily Herald MVP for girls basketball.

Olivia Hill, Fremd: Hill stepped up big in Fremd's 57-56 win over Hersey in the 47th annual Mid-Suburban League championship. She scored 16 of her game-high 18 points in the second half and collected 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals as Fremd rallied for its 19th MSL crown.

Abby Casmer, Lisle: Still not at full health following an ankle injury, the junior guard scored a personal-high 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a Class 2A regional semifinal win vs. Crane. Casmer followed that with another double-double - 12 points, 12 rebounds - to lead the Lions past St. Joseph for the title.

Launi Chanthaboury, St. Charles North: This senior point guard has made an impressive return after missing her junior year with a torn ACL. She capped her regular season by leading the North Stars to two more wins. Chanthaboury scored 25 points with four 3-pointers, 5 assists and 2 steals to beat Batavia 58-54, then scored a game-high 13 points with three 3-pointers with 3 assists and 3 steals in a 50-31 win over Wheaton Warrenville South.

Lydia Crow, Libertyville: The Wildcats haven't needed their all-time leading three-point shooter to score as much as she has the last two seasons. Balanced scoring and stingy defense have helped them put together a winning streak that started before Christmas, and the senior guard has been instrumental. She showed last week she can still score too, tossing in 14 points (three 3s) against Carmel and 17 vs. Mundelein.
