Barrington tops Deerfield on Senior Night

Senior Night was a winning night for Barrington's girls basketball team on Saturday.

The Fillies (19-9) received a game-high 19 points from four-year starter Taylor Thompson en route to a 57-42 win over Deerfield (10-19).

"It was a special night for a special group of kids," said Barrington coach Babbi Barreiro. "We have six seniors on the team and they have all brought something to the table for this team. All six scored, too, so that was great to see. They shared the ball nicely."

Thompson also had 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocked shots.

"Taylor was typical Taylor," Barrerio said. "She played a very complete game. It was a great game for her."

Senior Shanna Turczynski finished with 13 points and three 3-pointers.

"Shanna had an excellent game, too," Barreiro added. "She was fun to watch, knocking down some big 3-pointers along with 3 assists."

Resurrection 53, Wheeling 51: Sophia Stanke (20 points), Chloe Drozdz (15) and Naomi Mettelus (12) led Wheeling (4-25) in the nonconference game.

Marian Catholic 52, St. Viator 28: St. Viator (10-15, 3-3) fell at home in ESSC. Aubrey Horbach (10 points, 3 rebounds), Nora Ahram (8 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals) and Joy Bergstrom (7 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block) led Viator.
