Troyke sets steals record in Elgin's win

Elgin 41, IMSA 19: Senior guard Margie Troyke broke a 25-year-old Elgin single-game school record with 12 steals while leading the Maroons (4-25) to a 22-point nonconference victory over Illinois Math and Science Academy Saturday afternoon in Aurora.

Troyke, who added 11 points on three 3-pointers, surpassed the previous steals mark of 11 set by all-state guard Melissa Parker in 1994-1995 when the Maroons advanced to the Sweet 16 before losing to Freeport.

Senior forward Giana Kilbert scored a game-high 13 points with 8 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 blocked shots for Elgin, while Sabrina Moskow had 9 points and 5 rebounds, and Jessica Nino added 4 points and 9 rebounds.

Ahead 23-12 at halftime, the Maroons put the game out of reach by outscoring the Titans 14-2 in the third quarter.

Jumobi Arowolo paced IMSA with 8 points.

Dundee-Crown 44, Jacobs 21: The Chargers improved to 23-6 overall, 15-1 in Fox Valley Conference play, with their double-digit victory over Jacobs Saturday in Carpentersville.

Alyssa Crenshaw paced the Chargers with 16 points while Katelyn Skibinski added 12 points, 8 of them coming in the first quarter as D-C built a 16-7 advantage.

Mackenzie Leahy scored 7 points for the Golden Eagles, who fell to 6-19, 3-13.

Burlington Central 50, McHenry 43: Kat Schmidt poured in a game-high 18 points with 6 rebounds during Burlington Central's Fox Valley Conference win Saturday afternoon in McHenry.

Junior guard Elana Wells scored 5 straight points as the Rockets (25-4, 14-2) broke a 38-38 deadlock early in the fourth quarter on their way to their ninth consecutive victory. Wells finished with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 4 assists.

Lily Moretti and Zoey Kollhoff added 8 and 6 points, respectively, for Burlington Central, which led 17-7 after one quarter.

The Rockets face Prairie Ridge on Wednesday.

St. Charles North 53, Glenbard North 23: The North Stars got off to a fast start, opening a 13-2 first-quarter lead on their way to a convincing DuKane Conference triumph over the Panthers Saturday in Carol Stream.

Junior forward Tatum Settelmyer scored 7 of her game-high 12 points in the first half for the North Stars (17-11, 7-5), who led 27-10 at the break. Freshman guard Alyssa Hughes chipped in with 8 points, while senior guard Launi Chanthaboury and sophomore forward Erin Stack each added 7 points.

St. Charles North connected on nine 3-pointers, outscoring Glenbard North 27-3 from beyond the arc.

Nevaeh King and Chassidi Betney scored 5 points apiece for the Panthers (5-21, 0-12).

Batavia 54, St. Charles East 46: The Bulldogs bounced back from Thursday's loss to Geneva with an 8-point DuKane Conference victory over the host Saints Saturday afternoon.

Batavia (10-15, 7-5) senior guard/forward Erin Golden led all players with 25 points while sophomore Claire Nazos and freshman Tessa Towers added 9 and 8 points, respectively.

The Saints slipped to 8-21, 3-9.

St. Edward 51, Bishop McNamara 40: Madeline Ellsworth scored a team-leading 13 points for the Green Wave (11-18, 3-9) during their Metro Suburban Conference triumph over Bishop McNamara Saturday in Kankakee.

Mia Castro chipped in with 10 points, while Brooke Biggins, Alexia Alfaro and Ariann Franco each added 9 points, as St. Edward rallied from an 11-9 first-quarter deficit with a 20-12 second-quarter surge to grab a 29-23 halftime advantage.

Sophomore Amari Stevenson led Bishop McNamara with 16 points.

Hampshire 39, Cary-Grove 25: The Whip-Purs (15-13, 10-6) swept the season series with Saturday's Fox Valley Conference victory over Cary-Grove (9-16, 2-14) in Cary.

Junior guard Kelby Bannerman scored a game-high 12 points while Veronica Walker and Katelyn Del Re added 6 points apiece for Hampshire, which plays host to Huntley Wednesday night.

Lauren Passaglia led the Trojans with 10 points while Frankie Cruz added 6 points.

With the score tied at 15-15 at halftime, the Whip-Purs outscored Cary-Grove 15-6 in the third quarter before pulling away during a 9-4 final period.

Crystal Lake South 33, Crystal Lake Central 32: Brooke Kuffel scored 8 of her 10 points in the third quarter as the Gators slipped past Crystal Lake South Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at Crystal Lake South.

Freshman Kree Nunnally added 9 points, including 4 in the fourth quarter, as the Gators climbed back to .500 at 14-14 overall, 7-9 in Fox Valley Conference play.

Paige Keller led Crystal Lake Central (5-21, 2-14) with 14 points.

Huntley 38, Prairie Ridge 31: The Red Raiders raised their record to 18-11 overall, 12-4 in the Fox Valley Conference, with their Senior Night victory over visiting Prairie Ridge (12-16, 6-10) Saturday in Huntley.
