Wauconda's Carter breaks school scoring mark

Donovan Carter became the all-time leading scorer in Wauconda boys basketball history on Friday night.

The senior guard entered the Bulldogs' Northern Lake County Conference game at North Chicago needing 4 points to break the school scoring mark of 1,272 points held by Mike Freund (Class of 1964). Carter scored 24 points, and Wauconda won 67-59.

Carter, a three-year varsity player, has 1,292 points.

Wauconda (13-5, 4-1) also received double-digit points from Nick Bulgarelli (17), Griffin Daun (13) and Benji Chung (10).

Grayslake North 71, Grant 37: Tony Hines and Jamon Thomas each scored 23 points, and the host Knights won in Northern Lake County Conference action.

Grayslake North improved to 6-10 and 1-3 in the NLCC, while Grant fell to 5-15 and 1-4 in conference.

Vernon Hills 42, Maine East 40: Jack Barszcz and Aiden Isaacson each scored 11 points for the visiting Cougars in the Central Suburban League North Division game.

Vernon Hills improved to 9-12 and 2-4 in the CSL North.

Men's basketball

Morton 81, Lake County 76: On Thursday night, Aaron Greer scored 21 points for the College of Lake in its road loss.

Jarod Stonis added 19 points for the Lancers (15-6), Anthony Thompson had 16, and Jaylin Cunningham chipped in 10.
