Elk Grove moves to 12-7 with win over Glenbard North

Elk Grove's girls basketball tuned up for the second half of Mid-Suburban East play with a 48-31 triumph over Glenbard North at Monday's MLK Day Mid-Suburban League/DuKane Conference Challenge at Batavia High School.

The Grenadiers (12-7, 2-3) swing back into East action on Tuesday at Rolling Meadows (11-8, 3-2).

Grens senior Megan Murray (13 points) and junior Alyssa Trausch (10 points) each reached double figures on Monday while Julia Masnica chipped in 9 and Olivia Masnica 7.

Schaumburg 51, Batavia 42: Saxons senior guard Talia Torosian connected for seven 3-pointers while equaling her season-high of 23 points at the MLK Day MSL/DuKane Conference Challenge.

Sophomore guard Alyssa Orozco added 16 points (three 3-pointers).

CLA wins title: Christian Liberty (19-3) won the Willows Academy inaugural MLK Basketball Tournament, defeating Lake Forest Academy 54-28 in the semifinals and Alden Hebron 65-49 for the title.

In the semifinals, the Chargers were led by Audrey Law (13 points), Julia Wolke (13), Megan Ng (12) and Melissa Castro (12).

In the title match, Wolke (27 points, five 4-pointers), Law (15) and Ng (10) all reached double figures.

WWS 48, Conant 38: Wheaton-Warrenville South led 21-10 at intermission en route to the victory over Conant (6-13) in the MLK Day MSL/DuKane Challenge at Batavia High School.
