Round Lake beats Richmond-Burton

One night after losing to Lake Zurich, Round Lake's boys basketball team got back on the winning track with a 61-51 win over visiting Richmond-Burton.

The Panthers improved to 12-4.

Lake Forest 56, Grayslake North 43: On Tuesday night, the host Knights dropped the nonconference game despite Joe Swanson's first career double-double.

Swanson had 14 points and 10 rebounds to go along with 5 steals and 3 blocked shots, as well.

Grayslake North (4-7) hosts Round Lake on Saturday night.

Men's basketball

Lake County 88, Elgin 75: On Tuesday night, Wauconda graduate Jarod Stonis had 30 points and 15 rebounds to lead the College of Lake County to victory over host Elgin Community College, which is ranked No. 8 in NJCAA Division III.

In CLC's last two games, Stonis has scored 56 points and grabbed 37 rebounds. Jaylin Cunningham came back after missing the Lancers' last game and added 19 points and 15 rebounds. Anthony Thompson (17 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists), Aaron Greer (13 points, 8 assists) and Grant Stephens (8 rebounds) also contributed to the win, as the Lancers improved to 12-3.

With about five minutes left on the clock, CLC saw its 13-point lead cut to 5. Christos Gountains hit a clutch 3-pointer from the corner to put the lead back to 8, and the Lancers never looked back.

The Lancers return to action at their Grayslake campus at 7:15 p.m. Thursday against Oakton Community College.
