Aurora Christian 68, Winnebago 54: The Eagles (8-2) advanced to the championship game of the State Farm Holiday Classic with Saturday's 14-point victory over top-seeded Winnebago in Bloomington.

Danny New poured in a game-high 25 points for the Eagles, who overcame a 22-15 first-quarter deficit by outscoring Winnebago 20-9 in the second period while taking a 35-31 lead.

Aurora Christian sealed the decision with a 21-point fourth quarter, helping to overcome Winnebago's 3-point shooting (8 for the game).

Senior guard Taaj Davis and Daniel Walker chipped in with 15 and 14 points, respectively, for the Eagles, who will try to capture their second State Farm Holiday Classic title in 3 years at 5:15 p.m. Monday against Rockford Lutheran at Illinois Wesleyan's Shirk Center.

Derek Rosenstiel led Winnebago with 15 points.

Elgin 67, Waukegan 38: The Maroons (4-10) capped off the final day of the 42nd annual Wheeling Hardwood Tournament with a convincing win over Waukegan.

Senior Xavier Bonds recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, supported by Dion Rodgers (13 points, 9 rebounds), Darien Jackson (11 points) and Jeffery Lomax (10 points).

Elgin, which evened its tourney mark at 2-2, got off to a great start, grabbing an 18-5 advantage after one quarter before putting the game away by outscoring Waukegan 16-9 in the third quarter.

Elgin won the rebounding battle, 35-17.

"We did three things that Elgin coaches have been preaching - (we) valued the basketball each possession much better, played together and rebounded," said Maroons coach Todd Allen. "We are hoping this will help us as we get back into conference play next week."

Elgin faces West Chicago Friday night.

Rockford Jefferson 57, Jacobs 56: Senior guard Jaden Henderson scored 19 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, during the Golden Eagles' heartbreaking loss to Rockford Jefferson (12-2) in Saturday's third-place game of the Hinkle Holiday Tournament at Jacobs.

Junior guard Robert Pennel added 10 points for the Golden Eagles (9-5), who finished with a 3-2 record for the 5-day tourney.

Brenden Moss tallied a game-high 20 points for Rockford Jefferson.

Streamwood 88, Grant 78: Junior guard Kyle Maybrun poured in a career-best 36 points with five 3-pointers and 11 of 11 shooting at the free-throw line to lift the Sabres (7-8) to the consolation "B" championship of the Hinkle Holiday Tournament at Jacobs.

Larenzo Coney added 21 points with three 3-pointers while Jakobe Strong chipped in with 13 points as the Sabres closed out the tourney with 3 wins in 5 tries.

Streamwood connected on 12 3-pointers for the contest.

In other Hinkle Holiday Tournament action, Crystal Lake South capped a 3-2 tourney with a 60-42 victory over Payton Prep behind Tyler Miller (18 points) and Damir Glamoc (16 points).

Meanwhile, Bartlett finished the tourney with a 2-3 mark following Saturday's 60-46 victory over South Elgin. Hayden Angell and George Betevis led the Hawks with 19 and 11 points, respectively, while Drew Cwik tallied 8 points for the Storm.

Westmont 56, St. Edward 47: The Green Wave slipped to 5-9 following a 56-47 loss to Westmont in the ICCP/Westmont Christmas Tournament.

Sebastian Oquendo and Erik Hill scored 12 points apiece for St. Edward, which fell behind 16-8 after one quarter. Westmont iced the game by hitting 9 of its 10 free-throw attempts in the fourth quarter.

Harvest Christian 65, Harvard 54: Matt Ellett scored 17 points and Ben Lothery added 13 points, 8 rebounds and a pair of steals during the Lions' victory over Harvard in the Marengo EC Nichols Tournament.

Harvest, 2-2 in the tourney, jumped out to a 30-22 halftime advantage.

Damon Mueller paced Harvard with 16 points.

St. Charles East 62, Westinghouse 58: At Hinsdale Central, senior forward Chase Monkemeyer connected on all 5 of his 3-point attempts on the way to a career-high 36 points during the Saints' victory over Westinghouse. Monkemeyer also hit 13 of his 18 free-throw tries as the Saints (7-5) evened their tourney record.

Sean Sullivan added 8 points and Aidan Sullivan had 5 points, a game-high 14 rebounds and 4 assists for St. Charles East, which led 45-32 midway through the third quarter.

Joliet Catholic 72, Aurora Central Catholic 54: At East Aurora, Julien Berry scored 15 points with four 3-pointers in the Chargers' 18-point loss to Joliet Catholic.

Donovan Grunloh added 12 points and 3 assists as ACC finished with a 1-3 tourney mark.

St. Ignatius 79, Batavia 65: On day 3 of the York-Jack Tosh Classic, the Bulldogs slipped to 1-2 following their double-digit loss to St. Ignatius.

Senior Jayden Johnson tallied 16 points for Batavia, supported by Kyle Neibch (12), Luke Fehrenbacher (11) and Devin Cheaney (10).

Luke Collins and Kolby Gilles had 20 points apiece for St. Ignatius.

The Bulldogs face St. Laurence Monday.
