Carmel advances to Dixon title game

Jordan Wood's 17 points led three players in double figures, and Carmel Catholic's girls basketball team advanced to the championship game of the Dixon KSB Holiday Classic by beating East Moline United 55-39 on Friday night.

Grace Sullivan and Kaytlyn Matz added 14 and 10 points, respectively, for the Corsairs (11-2, 3-0 tourney), who will play Dixon in Saturday's 7:30 p.m. final. Dixon defeated Riverdale 44-39 in the other semifinal.

Lake Zurich 56, Batavia 46: At Montini, Ella Gilbertson scored 20 points, and the Bears evened their record at 1-1 in the tournament.

Alayna Soukup added 12 points for Lake Zurich, which will play York at 1:15 p.m. Saturday.

Grayslake Central 66, Highland Park 25: At St. Viator, Kate Bullman scored 14 of her 19 points in the opening quarter, and the Rams cruised in winning their second game in as many days in the 37th annual Blenner Holiday Classic.

Amanda Kocialkowski added 12 points for Grayslake Central (11-3, 2-0), which plays Zion-Benton at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Waukegan 57, North Chicago 16: At Grant, the Bulldogs improved to 2-2 in the tournament, while dropping the Warhawks to 0-4.

Waukegan plays Warren at 1 p.m. Saturday in the final round. North Chicago takes on De La Salle at 11:30 a.m.

De La Salle 51, Deerfield 43: At Grant, the Meteors handed the Warriors their first loss in the tournament.

De La Salle (2-2) plays North Chicago at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Deerfield (3-1) faces Grant at 10 a.m. The winner will win the championship.
