Dundee-Crown survives Buffalo Grove in OT

Dundee-Crown's offense came through when it absolutely had to Thursday in the day's final game at the Komaromy Classic. The Chargers scored the last 6 points of overtime to down Buffalo Grove, 43-39.

The Bison's Kendra Lee banked in a long 3-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime and the Bison took their only lead of the night on a driving layup by Macy Floro to start the OT scoring.

The Chargers turned it over on their first 4 possessions of the extra session, but Alyssa Crenshaw made layups on the next 2 to put the Chargers ahead for good. Katelyn Skibinski added a layup for the final margin.

Skibinski and Crenshaw finished with 12 points apiece for D-C. Makayla Gotter added 10 points and also had 11 rebounds.

Lee finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds for Buffalo Grove.

The Chargers led 36-30 with less than a minute left. But Floro nailed a 3-pointer and Megan Fontanetta made 1 of 2 free throws.

Gotter made 1 of 2 with 3.6 seconds left, but the Bison got the ball upcourt and Lee's bank shot just beat the buzzer.

Despite an early 11-4 lead, the Chargers couldn't shake the Bison. BG outscored the hosts 10-7 in the second quarter to get within 20-19 at halftime.

D-C looked out of sync offensively throughout the first half, committing 11 turnovers, getting whistled for some silly fouls and missing open layups. But their defense kept them in it, holding the Bison to 21% shooting before the break.

The Bison defense dogged the Chargers all over the court, forcing 26 turnovers for the game, but BG's cold shooting (11 for 49) was too much to overcome.

Makayla Gotter had 5 points and 5 rebounds for D-C before halftime.

Fontanetta and Foro finished with 7 points apiece for Buffalo Grove.
