Schaumburg rolls over Glenbard North

Forty-eight hours.

That's all the time Glenbard North and Schaumburg had to leave their Saturday boys basketball contests in the rear view mirror for their Monday night tilt on the Saxons' home court.

The Panthers had picked up a DuKane Conference road win at Batavia Saturday while Schaumburg dropped its first game of the year versus Tinley Park at the Team Rose Shootout at Mt. Carmel.

After the first eight minutes of play Monday, the hosts were only dropping 3-pointers en route to a 63-30 win in nonconference play.

A 7 of 9 barrage (12 of 24 overall) from beyond the arc in the first quarter allowed the Saxons (9-1) to lead 25-10.

After an Owen Van Poulke hoop cut the deficit to 25-12, Schaumburg went on an 11-0 run to settle matters as it took a 39-14 lead at the break.

Senior guard Jared Schoo led all scorers with 11 points, followed by fellow Saxon senior Joe Sturino with 9.

Junior guard Matt Murray led the Panthers (3-5) with 7. They'll host Lake Park in DKC play Friday.

Schaumburg coach Wade Heisler, whose squad travels to Fremd Friday for a key Mid-Suburban West matchup, liked his team's bounce-back effort.

"We put a lot of focus today on getting back to (being) us," Heisler said. "Sharing the basketball, staying sound to our principles. I thought we had great communication and great leadership tonight."
