Fremd, Hersey roll on

The state-ranked Fremd girls basketball team won for the seventh time in eight games this season with a 49-27 Mid-Suburban West triumph over visiting Conant on Friday night in Palatine.

Senior Emily Klaczek (14 points) led the offense for Fremd (7-1, 2-0) followed by senior Olivia Hill (8), junior Grace LaBarge (7) and senior Ella Burns (6). Klaczek and Burns each had a pair of 3-pointers.

Neeha Kakuturu (8 points), Sam Locascio (7) and Chikere Oduocha (6) paced Conant (2-5, 0-2).

Hersey 77, Elk Grove 46: Hersey improved to 8-3 and 2-0 in the MSL East as junior guard Mary Kate Fahey struck for a season-high 24 points, including three 3-pointers.

Junior Mary McGrath added 14 points (11-of-14 free throws) followed by freshman Katy Eidle (11) and senior Jordan Carlquist (10) for the visiting Huskies.

Alyssa Trausch (14 points), Megan Murray (12) and Kaitlyn Ingebrigsten (8) led EG (5-4, 0-2).

Schaumburg 34, Hoffman Estates 28: Host Schaumburg (5-5, 1-1) led 22-9 at half in the MSL West win. Sophomore Alyssa Orozco led the Saxons (5-5, 1-1) with 16 points and Talia Torosian added 6 with a pair of 3-pointers.

Hoffman (1-9, 0-2) was led by Ashley Oliver's 16 points and 6 from Emily Morris (two 3-pointers).

Barrington 60, Palatine 38: Senior Taylor Thompson scored 21 points and freshman Sophie Swanson added 20 as Barrington (7-4, 2-0) won its seventh straight game with the MSL West triumph.

The host Fillies received two 3-pointers apiece from Swanson and Katie Tomczyk.

Breanna Wiseman (8 points), Melanie Simon (7) and Kayle Miotk (6) paced Palatine (3-6, 0-2).

Rolling Meadows 35, Wheeling 28: Rolling Meadows (5-4, 2-0) climbed above .500 as Susannah Holifield (12 points) and Bridget Rolla (6) were top scorers for the hosts in their MSL East win.

Chloe Drozdz (10 points) and Morgan Collar (8) led Wheeling (2-8, 0-2).

Maine West 75, Niles North 17: Angela Dugalic (19 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals), Dylan VanFleet (13 points, 8 assists, 6 steals) and Jane Rothweiler (8 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists) led the visiting Warriors (10-1, 4-0) in the CSL North triumph.

Rothweiler, Brianna Hernandez and Lena Albo each had 3-pointer for West.
