Aurora Christian's Griffin scores 38 to reach 1,000
Aurora Christian junior Anna Griffin scored her 1,000th point in style Friday night in a 70-20 win over Westmont.
Griffin, a transfer from Plainfield Central, broke the Aurora Christian single game record with 38 points. She made three 3-point shots and 5 of 6 free throws.
The Eagles improved to 10-0.
Huntley 42, Crystal Lake South 40: The Red Raiders (4-4, 2-2) handed the Gators (4-4, 3-1) their first conference loss. Eight players scored for Huntley paced by Kamsi Nwogu with 13.
Allie Schoen and Maddie Scharrenberg scored 12 and 9 points, respectively, for the Gators.
Dundee-Crown 47, Cary-Grove 28: The Chargers (8-0, 4-0) turned in another stellar defensive effort, holding the Trojans to 6 points in the first quarter, 3 in the third and 5 in the fourth.
Alyssa Crenshaw led Dundee-Crown with 16 points. Arysia Harris added 10 points.
Hampshire 50, Crystal Lake Central 40: Kelby Bannerman scored 20 of her 24 points in the second half as the Whip-Purs came alive after trailing 20-19 at halftime. Alyssa Cork added 9 points.
Burlington Central 56, Jacobs 22: The Rockets (7-2, 3-1 FVC) won in Algonquin, making 13 from the 3-point arc as a team. Lily Moretti hit 6 of those for 18 points. Elana Wells added 14 points.
Kaneland 41, Sandwich 25: The Knights (7-1, 3-0) stayed perfect in the Interstate Eight behind strong games from Kylie Holubecki (13 points, 6 rebounds) and McKenzie Schueler (10 points). Delaney Sheehan grabbed 7 rebounds and Keely Noel had 3 steals.
