Maine West gets to 5-0 with win over DGN
Oregon University recruit Angela Dugalic poured home a season -high 22 points with 19 rebounds as Maine West's girls basketball team posted a 56-31 win over Downers Grove North at the Schaumburg Thanksgiving Tournament on Tuesday.
The defending Class 4A state champions improved to 4-0 in the tourney and 5-0 overall.
Senior Dylan Van Fleet added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals for the Warriors while classmate Lena Albo added 11 points, 3 steals and 2 assists.
Hersey 52, Maine South 46: Mary McGrath (14 points), Mary Kate Fahey (10), Jordan Carlquist (10), Meghan Mrowicki (8) and Katy Eidle (6) led Hersey (2-2, 2-1) in its third-round game of the Bison Classic.
The Hawks (2-1 in the tourney) were led by sophomore Emily Pape (14 points), junior Niki Manolis (9) and junior Niamh Gardiner (8).
Maine East 35, Round Lake 32: Sophomores Mahima Chokshi (13 points) and Emina Hanic (12) led Maine East (1-3) to the win in the seventh-place game of the Blue Demons' own tourney.
Palatine 36, Jacobs 26: Kayla Miotk (10 points) and Madi Stark (9 points) led Palatine (3-2, 2-2) to the win at the Dundee-Crown Thanksgiving tourney.
Mother McAuley 48, Buffalo Grove 38: Mother McAuley (3-0) earned the win over the BG (2-2, 1-2) in its own Bison Classic.
Hononegah 71, St. Viator 47: St. Viator fell to 1-3 at the Dundee-Crown Thanksgiving tourney. Joy Bergstrom (20 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 assists) led the Lions while Keely McClellan and Nora Ahram each added 8 points.
