Dundee-Crown doubles up Streamwood

One big quarter was all it took for Dundee-Crown.

The Chargers outscored Streamwood 24-2 in the third period to turn a competitive game into a blowout as they downed the Sabres 54-25 in the Dundee-Crown Thanksgiving Tournament.

Arysia Harris scored 16 points to lead D-C. Alyssa Crenshaw had 14 points and 5 rebounds.

Mandy Mien had 12 points and 8 rebounds for Streamwood, but no one else scored more than 5 points for the Sabres.

The Chargers led just 24-14 late in the first half and stretched the margin to 28-14 by halftime. But they really got rolling in the third, scoring 16 straight points before a basket by Kaylee Angle got the Sabres on the board.

Harris scored 10 points in the quarter. D-C made 11 of 19 shots while holding the Sabres to 1-for-9 accuracy in the quarter.

"We were a little disappointed in the defensive effort in the first half," said D-C coach Sarah Miller. "We held them scoreless in the third quarter. That was our game plan actually executed the way we wanted it. I felt like we really pushed the tempo in the third period. We ran the floor and got a lot of easy, high-percentage shots."

The D-C defense forced 31 turnovers for the game.

"We were down 14 at the half with lots of turnovers and not hitting anything," said Streamwood coach George Rosner. "We did not hit shots that we normally hit, and we were still down only 14. So we come out in the third quarter, and if we have a good start, that makes it a different game. We have a bad start and the game's over."

Gianine Boado added 9 points and Payton Schmidt 8 for the Chargers. Makayla Gotter grabbed 5 rebounds.

Idalyd Ocampo scored 5 points off the bench for Streamwood.
