Hersey tops Barrington

Junior Mary Kate Fahey fired home 21 points and freshman Katy Eidle added 15 as Hersey's girls basketball team posted a 63-53 win over Barrington on Thursday night in the first round of Buffalo Grove Bison Classic.

Jessie Carlquist and her sister Jordan each added 6 points for the Huskies (1-1, 1-0).

Freshman Sophie Swanson led Barrington (0-2, 0-1) with 21 points while Laura Mahlum added 11 and Michaela Goetze 9 for the Fillies.

Prospect 44, St. Charles East 40: Junior Eliot Dojutrek and sophomore Andie Will each scored 13 points to help lead Prospect (3-0) to a third straight win at the York tournament.

"Missing 11 free throws in a game against a team like St. Charles East is not where you want to find yourself," said Prospect coach Marie Miller. "But with some veteran composure from Sarah Skaggs and Eliot Dojutrek, we were able to finish the game ahead."

Miller said Will played an "incredibly aggressive game."

"She worked as a one-person press break whenever she could," the coach added. "We found out where we need to improve but most of all, we also learned what we can be capable of. We are excited to channel this end of game energy into the first three minutes of our next game and beyond."

Maine West 57, Deerfield 30: Angela Dugalic (19 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks), Dylan VanFleet (16 points, 7 assists, 5 steals), Brianna Hernandez (8 points, 5 rebounds) and Angelina Ocampo (5 points, 3 steals, 2 rebounds) led the Warriors to a 3-0 record.

Rosary 48, Christian Liberty 34: Julia Wolke's 11 points led Christian Liberty (0-2) at the Illinois Math and Science Academy Hoops Happening Tournament.
