Burlington Central, Aurora Christian win again

With a 53-17 win over Woodstock North on Thursday, Burlington Central improved to 3-0 on the season with a well balanced attack at their own holiday tournament.

Lily Moretti was hot from 3-point range, scoring 15 points all from behind the arch. Elana Wells added 12 points and 8 assists for Burlington Central, who will face DeKalb at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Wauconda 51, Kaneland 33: The Knights (0-1) took a tough loss in holiday tournament action against host Wauconda. Despite the loss, Kylie Holubecki stood out for Kaneland with 18 points, including a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.

Aurora Christian 70, Indian Creek 37: The Eagles (2-0) picked up a big win at the Hoop Happenings tournament, led by 16 points from Anna Griffin. Freshman Aspen Weeks got an impressive jump start to her varsity career with 14 points for Aurora Christian.

Mooseheart 32, Westminster Christian 31: After a hard fought game on both sides, the Warriors (1-1) fell in the second round of tournament play at Elgin Academy.

McKenna Osterle had 10 points and 8 rebounds for Westminster Christian and Sophie Kovachevich led all scores with 11 points.
