Batavia, Kaneland advance

Batavia shut out Naperville Central in the first quarter of the Class 4A Downers Grove South regional quarterfinal Monday before holding on for a 53-50 victory.

After the Bulldogs built a 16-0 lead after the first quarter, the No. 19 seeded Redhawks (10-17) scored 27 points in the final quarter to nearly catch up.

Zack Weber scored 24 points to pace No. 15 Batavia (12-18), Jayden Johnson had 16 and Jack Carlson 8. The Bulldogs will play host and No. 3 seed Downers Grove South (22-7) at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Kaneland 69, IMSA 62 (OT): Brett David scored 21 points, Bryce Ebert had 17 points and Will Cushman added 12 points in the Knights' overtime victory Monday night in the Class 3A IMSA regional quarterfinals.

Kaneland (7-24) will play Glenbard South (21-6) at 6 p.m. Tuesday. IMSA ends its season at 12-18.

Hinsdale South 73, Bartlett 65: The Hawks (8-22) saw their season come to an end at the Class 4A Glenbard West regional despite 14 points from Austin Gates.
