Perfect regular season for Maine West
Maine West girls basketball coach Kim de Marigny has not lost a conference game (30-0) in her three years as the Warriors' coach.
After Thursday night in Chicago, she has not lost a game in a regular season for the first time.
The Warriors' 64-44 triumph at Marist wrapped up their first perfect regular season (28-0) since coach Derril Kipp's 1987-88 Class AA state championship team also went 28-0 in the regular season.
Dylan Van Fleet (15 points, 5 assists 5 rebounds 5 steals, Angela Dugalic (13 points, 15 rebounds, 4 blocks), Lena Albo (12 points) and Rachel Kent (9 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists) help lead the way for the girls from Des Plaines, who are ranked No. 1 in Class 4A.
Elk Grove 47, Schaumburg 43: Freshman Lili Duckmann scored 14 points to helped lead the Grenadiers (13-13) to the Mid-Suburban League third-place crossover win. Other top scorers for EG were Rachel Kandefer (8), Isabella Tierney (7) and Alyssa Trausch (6).
Vicky Aguirre (11 points), Ariana Doroskin (9), Alyssa Orozco (9) and Talia Torosian (8) led the visiting Saxons (12-14).
Prospect 53, Conant 31: Eliot Dujotrek and Ashley Adams each scored 11 points while Jessica Kowalczyk added 9 to lead the host Knights (14-9) to the MSL crossover win. Abbey Danciu pulled down a team-high 6 rebounds,
Stephanie Mazurek (9 points), Hannah Shulman (8) and Abbey DiSalvo (6) paced Conant (9-17).
Buffalo Grove 53, Hoffman Estates 48: Juniors Kendra Lee (14 points), Macy Floro (13) and Alyssa Ramos (11) led host Buffalo Grove (15-12) to the MSL crossover win.
Seniors Berry Chukwuyem (22 points) and Raven Wilson (18) led Hoffman (10-18).
Wheeling 40, Palatine 28: Chloe Drozdz (16 points), Sophia Stanke (11) and Nosa Igiehon (10) led host Wheeling (11-17) in the MSL crossover.
Olivia Radtke (9) and Melanie Simon (6) were top scorers for Palatine (7-21)
