Lakes tops Antioch
Kylie Jozwik scored 15 points, Mia Edwards added 10 and 9 rebounds, and Lakes' girls basketball team defeated visiting Antioch 48-39 in a Northern Lake County Conference finale on Thursday night.
Lakes (13-16, 6-8) also received 9 points and 5 steals from Brittany Washington and 8 points from Taylor Lehman.
"Another good conference win," Lakes coach Brian Phelan said. "A great win on Senior Night. We have a great group of seniors. So proud to be called their coach."
Antioch (5-22, 3-11) started the game with a 7-0 run.
Lakes is seeded 16th in the Class 4A Libertyville sectional complex and opens the state tournament on Monday in the Mundelein regional. The Eagles will play No. 20 Mundelein at 7 p.m. in a play-in game.
Antioch is seeded 12th in the Class 3A Carmel Catholic sectional complex and opens the state tournament on Tuesday in the Resurrection regional. The Sequoits will play No. 6 Resurrection at 7:30 p.m. in a semifinal game.
Mundelein 41, Deerfield 27: Morgan Frank had 14 points, 5 assists, 5 blocks and 4 rebounds for the host Mustangs, whose nonconference win came on Senior Night.
Kendal Klatt had 10 points and 9 rebounds for Mundelein (9-20).
Wauconda 57, North Chicago 32: The visiting Bulldogs won their regular-season finale to finish 10-4 in the Northern Lake County Conference.
Allie Tylka and Kiley Szmajda had 15 and 13 points, respectively, for Wauconda (21-5), which is seeded ninth in the Class 4A Libertyville sectional complex. The Bulldogs open the state tournament in the Mundelein regional at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday against No. 8 Prospect.
