Bartlett's Sinclair picks up MVP honors
Lexie Sinclair of Bartlett is this week's Daily Herald girls basketball MVP.
Lexie Sinclair, Bartlett: This sophomore guard came through with the Upstate Eight Conference championship on the line Friday night at Bartlett, scoring a season-high 31 points in the Hawks' 64-57 victory. It was Sinclair's second straight 30-point game. She scored 17 in the first half, made 11 of 13 free throws, and her fourth steal of the night led to her game-clinching layup in the final minute.
Hannah Schuringa, Timothy Christian: The 5-foot-11 sophomore post player helped the Trojans clinch a share of the Metro Suburban Conference Red Division title. In victories against Wheaton Academy, Aurora Christian and Guerin, Schuringa totaled 57 points, 29 rebounds and 10 blocked shots. She also had 6 assists and 4 steals.
Taylor Thompson, Barrington: The 5-foot-11 junior forward became the ninth Filly in program history to reach 1,000 points when she poured home a season-high 27 points with 13 rebounds in a 61-38 win at Deerfield. "She's got a ton of potential," said Fillies coach Babbi Barreiro.
Kayla Caudle, Vernon Hills: A four-year varsity starter who signed with DePaul University before the start of the season, she surpassed 1,000 career points and rebounds this season and enjoyed another special night against host Highland Park. She scored 20 points and grabbed 22 rebounds, as the Cougars won 55-38.
