Wheaton North's Schauer picks up MVP honors

Jacob Schauer of Wheaton North is this week's Daily Herald boys basketball MVP.

Jacob Schauer, Wheaton North: Schauer helped propel the Falcons into sole possession of first place in the DuKane Conference with victories over St. Charles East and Batavia. The 6-foot-1 senior guard scored 22 points, including 11-of-12 free-throw shooting, against the Saints, and 23 points against the Bulldogs.

Marquise Walker, West Aurora: This talented guard continues to blend seamlessly with his new teammates at West Aurora. The senior transfer led the Blackhawks with 17 points in a 10-point victory over Larkin. A few days later he scored a team-best 18 points in a 57-26 victory over Glenbard South, which extended West Aurora's winning streak to seven.

Raj Mittal, Conant: The Cougars' 6-foot-4 senior scored a career-high 25 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and had 3 blocked shots in a 60-52 Mid-Suburban West win over Barrington. Earlier in the week he had 17 points and 12 rebounds in a MSL crossover loss to Rolling Meadows.

Brad Cherry, Lakes: The Eagles have had their struggles this season, but the play of their senior guard/forward has not been one of them. A returning all-area player, Cherry has continued to earn cheers in his third varsity season. He poured in a career-high 33 points to lead the Eagles to a 66-61 win over visiting Round Lake. He sank a pair of 3-pointers.
