Cherry nets 33 as Lakes beats Round Lake

Brad Cherry poured in a career-high 33 points, leading Lakes to a 66-61 win over visiting Round Lake in Northern Lake County Conference boys basketball action on Saturday.

Matt Ott added 11 points for Lakes (4-12, 2-2), sinking three 3-pointers. Cherry was consistent, scoring 10 points in the opening quarter, eight in both the second and third, and seven in the fourth. His only two 3-pointers came in the final quarter.

Round Lake (8-10, 0-5) got 20 points from Nick Pierre, who made five 3-pointers. Hakim Williams and Isaiah Nixon added 13 and 12 points, respectively, for the Panthers.

Wauconda 56, Grayslake Central 53: Donovan Carter scored 9 of his team-high 16 points in the fourth quarter, as the visiting Bulldogs prevailed in Northern Lake County Conference action.

Nick Bulgarelli added 14 points, including three 3-pointers, for Wauconda (8-7, 2-3), which stretched its winning streak to four in a row. Jason Carlson had 12 points (eight in the fourth quarter) and 4 assists, and Connor Brannick contributed 7 points and 4 assists.

Grayslake Central (7-9, 2-2) was led by Coby Moe's 16 points (three 3-pointers). Grant Hardy had 14 points, Dillan Dumanlang scored 11, and Antonio Crews tallied eight.

Grant 58, North Chicago 56: The visiting Bulldogs picked up the win to improve to 9-9 and 3-1 in the Northern Lake County Conference.

Warren 53, Lake Zurich 35: On Friday night, Adnan Sarancic scored 14 points, Sawyer Shrake added 12, and the host Blue Devils won in North Suburban Conference action.

Warren improved to 7-7 and 3-2 in the NSC.

Lake Zurich (4-14, 1-5) was led by J.R. Cison's 14 points.

Round Lake 74, CICS/Northtown Academy 48: On Friday night, Hakim Williams and Kevonne Peterson each scored 18 points for the visiting Panthers in their nonconference win.

Nick Pierre added 12 for Round Lake (8-9), and Isaiah Nixon had nine.

Maine East 67, Vernon Hills 62 (OT): On Friday night, Ryan Jacobson scored 24 points for the host Cougars in the Central Suburban League North Division game.

Mehki McCarthy and Joey Levitan each had 10 points for Vernon Hills (4-14, 0-5).
