Buffalo Grove moves into tie for first

Senior Night was a successful night for Buffalo Grove's girls basketball team.

Trailing by 9 points heading into the final quarter, the Bison outscored visiting Hersey 14-2 to pull out a 43-40 triumph in the Mid-Suburban East.

BG is now on a four-way tie for first in the East with Hersey, Prospect and Rolling Meadows. They are all 3-2.

Leading the Bison (11-7) were Kendra Lee (12 points), Jackie Bickhaus (10) and Alyssa Ramos (9).

"Our seniors battled and fought to the end on Senior Night," said Bison coach Steve Kolodziej. "We had a balanced attack."

Hersey (11-8) was led by Mary Kate Fahey (13 points), Emily McGrath (9) and Mary McGrath (8).

Fremd 56, Schaumburg 43: Olivia Hill (14 points, 4 rebounds 3 assists, 4 steals), Brianna Wooldridge (11 points) and Grace LaBarge (10 points) led Fremd (19-2, 5-0) in the MSL West.

The state's No. 3 ranked Class 4A team played without its leading scorer Emily Klaczek, who was injured in practice this week.

Vikings sophomore Ruthie Montella added 8 points and 4 rebounds

"I was very proud of our girls," said Fremd coach Dave Yates. "We had a rough start but the last 24 minutes of the game, I thought we showed some great composure. We have a number of talented players on this team and I thought our balanced scoring was indicative of that."

Ariana Doroskin 16 points) and Talia Torosian (8) led Schaumburg (9-9, 3-2) which fired home seven 3-pointers.

"Schaumburg really shot the ball well in the first quarter and really throughout the game," Yates aid. "I thought our press broke the game open in the middle quarters.

"We are excited to be 5-0 the first time through the West. We have five games in three weeks and our girls are looking forward to them."

Fremd plays at Kenwood Academy on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Conant 58, Barrington 44: Stephanie Mazurek (13 points), Julia Flaishaker (10) and Neeha Kakaturu (9 points) led Conant (7-11, 3-2) in the Mid-Suburban West. Barrington (5-14, 3-2) was paced by Taylor Thompson (16 points), Anna Mae King (14 points) and Laura Mahlum (11 points).

Elk Grove 44, Wheeling 29: Freshman Lili Duckmann (11 points) and sophomore Alyssa Trausch (9) led visiting Elk Grove (7-11, 2-3) to the MSL East win. Wheeling (9-10, 1-4) was paced by senior Nosa Igiehon (10 points).

Hoffman Estates 51, Palatine 40: Hoffman Estates (6-14, 1-4) picked up its first win in the MSL West, led by Raven Wilson (16 points), Ashley Oliver (13 points) and Anna Sturgis (12). Olivia Radtke had 16 points for Palatine (4-14, 0-5), followed by Amy Vitulli (9) and Madisen Stark (8).

Maine West 62, Glenbrook North 17: Angela Dugalic had 22 points and 16 rebounds while Rachel Kent added 11 points and 5 rebounds to lead the Warriors (21-0) in the Central Suburban North. Dylan Van Fleet added 9 points, 4 steals and 4 assists for Maine West.
