Cherry earns cheers, scores 27 as Lakes wins

Brad Cherry scored a career-high 27 points to lead all scorers, as Lakes' boys basketball team opened the 2019 portion of its season by beating visiting Kenosha Bradford 58-52 in a nonconference matinee on Saturday.

Chance Andell and Brad Bies chipped in 8 points apiece for the Eagles (3-11). Cherry sank 12 field goals, including a pair of 3-pointers.

Moline 82, Carmel 77: At Wharton Field House, the Corsairs lost for the second night in a row in the Moline Shootout.

The score was tied at 54-54 after three quarters, but Carmel (11-8) allowed 28 points in the fourth.
