Warren nets first win in own tournament
Jataia Harris and Jesette Ezernack each scored 10 points, and Warren's girls basketball team defeated Deerfield 42-27 for its first win in its own Blue Devil Classic on Friday.
Dana Lundtveit added 9 points for Warren (4-13, 1-3 tournament), which snapped a seven-game losing streak.
The Blue Devils play Carmel at 1:30 p.m. Saturday on the final day of the tournament.
Lake Forest 50, Carmel 39: At Warren, Grace Tirzmalis had 13 points and 13 rebounds, as the Scouts improved to 14-4 and 4-0 in the Blue Devil Classic.
Lake Forest's other contributors included Molly Fisher (11 points), Halle Douglass (9 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists), Finola Summerville (9 points, 7 rebounds) and Ellie Pearson (7 points, 7 rebounds).
Carmel (6-9, 1-3 tourney) received 8 points apiece from Caitlin Teehan, Grace Sullivan and Grace Jones.
Lake Forest plays Grayslake Central in the tournament finale at 3 p.m. Saturday. Carmel finishes up against Warren at 1:30 p.m.
Marian Catholic 35, Lake Zurich 33: At Montini, the Bears fell to 1-2 in the tournament.
Ella Gilbertson scored 11 points for Lake Zurich (8-10), which plays Hersey at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the consolation third-place game.
Buffalo Grove 37, Stevenson 26: At Dundee-Crown, the Patriots dropped their second game in a row in the Charger Classic.
Avery King had 10 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks for Stevenson (10-7, 1-2 tournament), which finishes up against Trinity at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
