Meadows, Elk Grove pick up wins at York; Barrington reaches Jacobs semis

Sophomore Max Christie scored 23 points and had 13 rebounds Thursday to lead the Rolling Meadows boys basketball team to a 67-29 win over Andrew at York's Jack Tosh Holiday Classic.

Danny Fallon added 10 points for the Mustangs (8-4), who will face Thornton Fractional South at 1 p.m. Friday.

Elk Grove 48, Highland Park 38: Also at York, Ryley Rathman had 17 points and Ryne Singsank added 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Grens (3-10) to the win. Tim Varga scored 12 points for Elk Grove, which snapped an eight-game losing streak and will play Timothy Christian at 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Barrington 74, Johnsburg 60: Barrington won for the third straight game at Jacobs' Hinkle Holiday Classic, taking first in its pool. Mark Johnson led the way for the Broncos with 23 points while Jason Boock added 18 and Aaron Sarker 13. Barrington (9-2) will take on Cary-Grove in a 6 p.m. semifinal game on Friday.

Lake Forest 42, Palatine 31: David Balanganayl and Tommy Swanson led Palatine (5-7) with 6 points each in this loss at York.

Maine West 57, Wheeling 50: Jared Pearson scored 19 points, Danny Rice had 16 and Danny Kentgen pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Warriors (6-4) to a win at the Wheeling Hardwood Classic. Michael Best had 23 points and Jeremy Kim added 18 for Wheeling (3-9).

Buffalo Grove 75, Ridgewood 37: Kam Craft had 21 points to lead the Bison (9-4) to a win at Wheeling.

Boylan 64, Hersey 45: Davis Belford led Hersey (5-6) with 17 points in the opening round of the Pekin Holiday Tournament.

Addison Trail 55, Hoffman Estates 52: Rudra Patel led the Hawks with 22 points at the Glenbard West tournament.
