Fenwick rallies to beat Stevenson at Dundee-Crown

Stevenson's girls basketball team let a fourth-quarter lead slip away and lost to Fenwick 49-46 in second-day action of the Dundee-Crown Charger Classic on Thursday night.

Avery King scored 16 points, including three 3-pointers, and grabbed 7 rebounds for the Patriots (10-6, 1-1 tournament), who led 39-36 entering the final quarter after outscoring Fenwick 16-7 in the third.

Ava Bardic added 11 points (two 3s) and Simone Sawyer had 9 points for Stevenson.

Antioch 43, Rosary 33: At Lisle, for the second night in a row, the Sequoits played strong defense, which led to the double-digit win.

Avery Larson led all scorers with 13 points, and she put up a good effort in the paint, pulling in 8 rebounds for Antioch (3-12, 2-0 tournament). Erin Miller was right behind her with 7 rebounds.

Piper Foote threw in 12 points, nabbed 5 rebounds and dished out 2 solid assists to Larson in the lane to shut down Rosary's fourth-quarter run to solidify the Antioch win. Hailey Webb and Gianna Riforgiato amped up Antioch's intensity on the defensive end, combining for 6 steals that resulted in Antioch buckets.

The Sequoits take on Walther Christian at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the tournament semifinals.

Lake Zurich 45, Lyons Township 23: At Montini, Maddy Piggott scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, as the Bears earned their first win in the tournament and snapped a three-game losing streak.

Lake Zurich (8-9, 1-1 tourney) held Lyons to 8 points in the second half. Alayna Soukup and Margueret Spear each had 9 points in the win, while Ella Gilbertson finished with 8 points and 12 rebounds.

The Bears resume the tournament at 1:15 p.m. Friday against Marian Catholic.

Carmel 50, Deerfield 44: At Warren, the Corsairs won their first game in the Blue Devil Classic and snapped a six-game losing streak.

Brigit Barr and Katie Lach each scored 11 points for Carmel (6-8, 1-2 tournament), which used full-court pressure to open the second half and turn an 18-18 halftime score into a 34-27 lead in its favor by the end of the third quarter.

Caitlin Teehan added 9 points, 5 assists and 3 steals for the Corsairs, while Emma Berg scored 9 points coming off the bench on three 3-pointers. Grace Sullivan had 8 points and 6 rebounds.

Deerfield point guard Mallory Sawyer scored 13 of her game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter. She shot 7 of 13 from the floor with three 3-pointers and also had 3 assists.

Carmel plays Lake Forest at noon on Friday, while Deerfield (0-3 tournament) takes on Warren at 3 p.m.

Lake Forest 47, Quincy Senior 36: At Warren, Halle Douglass had 17 points, 6 rebounds, 5 block, 3 assists and 3 steals, as the Scouts improved to 3-0 in the Blue Devil Classic.

Douglass also broke the school record for career assists, as she has 392. Grace Tirzmalis added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals for Lake Forest (13-4).

Quincy fell to 13-3 and 2-1 in the tourney.

3rd place game of Libertyville Winter Classic girls' basketball tournament

Niles West 49, Vernon Hills 42: At Libertyville, the Cougars lost the third-place game, despite 10 points and 6 rebounds from Piper Bedell, who was named to the all-tournament team.

Kylie Bunning scored 13 points to lead Vernon Hills (10-6, 2-2 tourney) in scoring. Daniella Jarrell had 9 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. The Cougars played their second game in a row without DePaul-bound forward Kayla Caudle (mission trip).

Cary-Grove 44, Mundelein 32: At Libertyville, the Mustangs lost the fifth-place game, despite 17 points and 4 blocks from Morgan Frank, who was named to the all-tournament team.

Kendall Klatt had 12 points and 7 rebounds for Mundelein (6-12, 1-3 tourney).

Grayslake North 51, Belvidere North 48: At Rockford Boylan, Savannah Guenther set a career high with 32 points, as the Knights won their second game of the day in the Reindeer Games tournament, after losing their opener.

Faith Standerski added 7 points for Grayslake North (5-10).

Rockford Boylan 63, Grayslake North 40: At Rockford Boylan, the Knights dropped their opening contest in the Reindeer Games tournament.

Savannah Guenther had 17 points, and Margaret Stanfel added eight for Grayslake North, which plays McHenry and Beloit Memorial on Saturday.
