Schaumburg pulls away for win at York

While Schaumburg's boys basketball team was not exactly sluggish in the first half at the Jack Tosh tournament at York Wednesday afternoon, the Saxons were not as aggressive as coach Wade Heisler wanted.

Fast forward to the third quarter.

The Saxons turned on the jets, outscoring Thornton Fractional South 28-8 to lead 63-39 before going on to post an 80-61 win over the now 4-6 Rebels.

Sophomore Chris Hodges led the 10-3 Saxons with 38 points while his brother Mike poured through 26 points. Mike Hodges added 7 rebounds and 6 assists.

"We had to slow down and wait for our opportunities," said Chris Hodges. "In practice we say 'one more' and that means to pass up a good shot for a great shot. That's what happened in the (third) quarter."

Chris Hodges scored 15 points in the third quarter while Mike Hodges added 7 points.

The Rebels were led by Andrew Stewart with 17 points and Elijah Watson notched 16 points.

"We came out ready to go in the third quarter," said Heisler. "We competed harder in the second half than we did in the first half,"
