Crews lifts Grayslake Central past Lakes
Antonio Crews scored 7 of his game-high 15 points in the fourth quarter, lifting Grayslake Central's boys basketball team to a 44-37 win over host Lakes in a Northern Lake County Conference matinee on Saturday.
Crew sank 5 of 7 free throws in the fourth, helping the Rams outscore the Eagles 17-10 in the quarter. The score was tied at 27-27 after three.
Grant Hardy added 12 points for Grayslake Central (3-4, 1-1), and Ethan Boelens had nine.
Lakes (0-8, 0-2) was led by Brad Cherry with 14 points, including two 3-pointers. Brad Bies tallied 9 points for the Eagles.
North Chicago 80, Antioch 63: The visiting Warhawks pulled away in the Northern Lake County Conference matchup, handing the Sequoits their first loss of the season.
Dan Filippone scored 26 points to lead Antioch (5-1, 1-1), which trailed only 56-49 after three quarters before being outscored 24-14 in the fourth. Antioch also received 10 points from Jack Gillespie and nine from Kevin Tebbe.
Carmel 54, Montini 38: The host Corsairs captured the nonconference game for their third win in a row.
Carmel (6-3) trailed 9-4 after one quarter but led 21-16 at halftime and 31-29 after three.
