Grayslake North's Connolly nets career point No. 1,000

Grayslake North junior guard Ryan Connolly reached a milestone in helping the Knights capture a 41-34 win over visiting Highland Park in nonconference boys basketball action Tuesday night.

Connolly, a starter since his freshman year, surpassed 1,000 career points. Grayslake North improved to 5-2 with its third win in a row.

The Knights led only 16-13 at halftime and then outscored the Giants 13-9 in the third.

Mundelein 45, Lake Forest 22: The visiting Mustangs won their fifth game in a row, as Scottie Ebube had 12 points and 6 rebounds in the North Suburban Conference opener.

Conor Enright added 8 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for Mundelein (5-2). Andrew Gonzalez had 7 points and 4 rebounds, and Jack Bikus chipped in 6 points and 6 boards.

Grant 75, Round Lake 46: Tavarus Williams' 17 points led a balanced attack, as the host Bulldogs won big in Northern Lake County Conference action.

Grant (5-2, 2-0) was up 62-27 after three quarters. Torren Curry (11 points) and Neil Knudsen (10) also scored in double figures for the Bulldogs, and Joe Gorden had 9 points.

Round Lake (2-4, 0-2) received 16 points from Hakim Williams.

Vernon Hills 55, Lakes 32: Joey Levitan sank five 3-pointers, finishing with a career-high 21 points, as the host Cougars picked up the nonconference win.

Ryan Jacobson chipped in 14 points for Vernon Hills (2-5).

Lakes fell to 0-7.
