"I thought we battled hard tonight coming off an overtime loss last night at (Grayslake) Central," Lakes coach Brian Phelan said. "We battled all game and took the lead just at the right time. ... We played really well on the defensive end of the floor tonight. Sara Smith got to the line a lot tonight. Loved her aggressive mindset. Offensively, we just need to keep grinding and hit those free throws moving forward."

Warren fell to 2-6.

"We had some real good positives in the game," Cougars coach Paul Brettner said. "We had three kids with foul trouble in the first half and two of them with foul trouble in the fourth quarter and managed to keep them all in the game and productive. The girls really came out and had a strong third quarter which propelled us to victory. (Barrington) Coach (Babbi) Barreiro has a young team and they will be difficult to contend with as the season goes on."
