Hersey nips Grayslake Central

It was an exciting finish at Buffalo Grove as Hersey's girls basketball team defeated Grayslake Central in dramatic fashion, 49-48.

Hersey took its first lead of the game with 5.5 seconds remaining when Mary Kate Fahey drove in for a layup. Fahey, who was named to the all-tournament team, finished with 14 points to lead the Huskies.

Kate Bullman, also an all-tournament team selection, scored a game-high 20 points for Grayslake Central.

Maine South 49, Libertyville 48: Another exciting finish at Buffalo Grove had Maine South squeaking out a win over Libertyville in overtime.

Libertyville was led by sophomore guard Lauren Huber, who scored 15 points. Lydia Crow added 13 points for the Wildcats.

Huber and teammate Maggie Buchert were named to the all-tournament team.

For Maine South, Nicole Scales scored a game-high 17 points while Niamh Gardiner added 12 points.

Chicago Phillips 43, Warren 36: Warren was down by 11 points to star the fourth quarter and cut its deficit to 4 points with 1:20 left but couldn't get any closer in its final game of the New Trier Tournament.

The Blue Devils outscored Phillips in the fourth quarter, 11-4.

Macy Kocen and Breleigh Gula led the Blue Devils in scoring with 12 and 11 points respectively.

Warren is now 1-4 on the season.
