Fahey's basket lifts Hersey

It was Hersey's last game at the Bison Classic on Saturday.

And what a last shot by sophomore guard Mary Kate Fahey.

Fahey drove inside the lane and hit the winning basket with 5.5 seconds left to lift Hersey's girls basketball team to a 49-48 triumph over Grayslake Central at Buffalo Grove High School.

Fahey's bucket gave Hersey its only lead in the game as the Huskies outscored the Rams 15-8 in the final period.

Senior Emily Collins led the winners with 14 points while all-tourney selection Fahey had 12 and junior Janine Boyan 10.

Junior Sydney Hemenway had a 3-pointer for the Huskies, who went 3-2 in the tourney and are now 3-3 overall.

Rolling Meadows 63, Notre Dame (WI) 62: Rolling Meadows (6-1) earned the win at the Brookfield Central Thanksgiving Shootout in Wisconsin over Notre Dame High School (Green Bay).

"Alexa Davis (17 points, two 3-pointers) was awesome on both ends of the floor," said Meadows coach Ryan Kirkorsky. "We had solid contributions from Lily Greifenstein (10 points) and Susannah Holifield (10 points), and Sam Elenz (12 points) played her best varsity game to this point. Our depth was important in this type of game, and it was a team win."

Greifenstein, Elenz, Kelsie Campbell, Kristin Dillon and Moira Hickey also had 3-poitners for RM.

Fremd 68, Janesville Parker (WI) 32: Fremd stayed perfect at 6-0 with the win at the Brookfield Central Thanksgiving Shootout in Wisconsin.
