St. Viator finishes 4-0 at Dundee-Crown

St. Viator's girls basketball team completed a perfect run through the Dundee-Crown Thanksgiving tournament on Tuesday night with a 62-37 win over Crystal Lake South.

The Lions went 4-0 with a margin of victory of 32.2 points in their four games.

Freshman Joy Bergstrom led the way against CLS with 19 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals. Emma Morrisey had 11 points and 4 rebounds while Elise Horbach and Aubrey Horbach each added 9 points.

Buffalo Grove 30, Maine South 27: Buffalo Grove improved to 3-0 in its own Bison Classic and will face Libertyville on Friday at 4:30 p.m. and Mother McAuley on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

Jackie Bickhaus (8 points), Macy Floro (6) and Alyssa Ramos (5) were top scorers for BG, which got a superb defensive effort from Floro on Maine South senior guard Nicole Scales, a North Dakota State recruit.

"Macy held a D-I recruit to 4 points," said Bison coach Steve Kolodziej. "She did an outstanding job and has really bought into her role. It was definitely a team win. We are continuing to learn what kind of team we are. I'm pretty optimistic from what I'm seeing but there is a long way to go."

Maine West 60, St. Charles East 25: Rachel Kent (13 points, 3 steals) and Angela Dugalic (11 points, 4 steals, 3 blocks) led the Warriors (5-0) at the Schaumburg tourney. West sophomores Brianna Hernandez and Jane Rothweiler combined 11 points off the bench. The Warriors outscored the Saints 19-0 in the third quarter.

Evanston 51, Schaumburg 33: Evanston improved to 4-0 in the Schaumburg tourney and will face Maine West (5-0, 4-0) for the championship at 10 a.m. on Friday.

Mother McAuley 57, Hersey 37: Aya El-Fiky (11 points), Emily Collins (9 points) and Maddie Jacobson (8 points) were top scorers for the Huskies, who are 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the Bison Classic. Hersey faces Barrington at 10 a.m. on Friday and Grayslake Central at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Grayslake Central 53, Barrington 40: Barrington slipped to 0-3 in the Bison Classic. The Fillies will face Hersey at 10 a.m. on Friday and Harlem at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Lake Forest Academy 49, Elk Grove 35: The Grenadiers finished fifth at the Vernon Hills tourney with a 2-3 record.
