Palatine notches first win
Palatine's girls basketball team notched its first win of the season with a 35-32 win over Crystal Lake South at the Dundee-Crown Thanksgiving tournament.
Sophomore Kayla Miotk led the Pirates (1-1) with 15 points while freshman Madi Stark added 9. Senior Amy Vitulli hit a 3-pointer for the winners.
Prospect 60, St. Francis 21: Ashley Adams (10 points), Stephanie Kowalczyk (7) and Kayla Byrne (6) led Prospect, which went 2-2 at the York tourney.
St. Viator 58, South Elgin 44: Lions freshman guard Joy Bergstrom led all scorers with 27 points and 4 rebounds as Viator improved to 2-0 at the Dundee-Crown Thanksgiving tourney. Freshman guard Nora Ahram added 13 points and 2 steals while sophomore guard Emma Morrisey has 9 points and 9 rebounds.
Christian Liberty 48, Westminster Christian 28: Senior Emma Wolke scored a game-high 18 points for CLA while sophomore Megan Ng and freshman Melissa Castro each chipped in 10. Ng and Wolke each had two 3-pointers while Castro had one.
Trinity 64, Conant 40: Julia Flaishaker scored 11 points to lead Conant, which ended up 1-3 at the York tourney. Hannah Shulman added 8 points (two 3-pointers) for the Cougars and teammate Stephanie Mazurek had 6.
