Winnebago hands Aurora Christian 1st loss
After 21 straight wins to start the season, Aurora Christian lost for the first time Thursday night, 74-65 at Winnebago.
The Eagles, ranked No. 1 in Class 1A, had given Winnebago, the state's No. 2 ranked Class 2A team, its only loss 49-44 on Dec. 29 at the State Farm tournament in Bloomington.
Winnebago (21-1) got even on its home court, leading 20-16 after one quarter and 44-30 at halftime. Jake Wolfe led the Eagles (21-1) with 33 points.
Ty Waller scored 27 and Andrew Morrissey 26 for Winnebago.
