Lake Zurich snaps Warren's streak

Ella Gilbertson scored 17 points, and Lake Zurich's girls basketball team defeated host Warren 45-35 Tuesday night, preventing the Blue Devils from clinching a share of the North Suburban Conference championship.

Gilbertson sank five 3-pointers. Margueret Spear had 8 points (two 3-pointers) for the Bears (14-9, 9-3), and Grace Kinsey chipped in seven.

Warren (19-6, 10-2) had its eight-game winning streak snapped.

Stevenson 40, Zion-Benton 30: The Patriots improved to 14-11 overall and 9-3 in the North Suburban Conference with a win at home.

Klaire Steffens led the scoring effort for Stevenson with 14 points, and Avery King had 13.

Zion-Benton slipped to 1-11 against the league.

Stevenson's next game is at home against Libertyville on Friday - senior night for the Patriots, with six seniors slated to be recognized.

Mundelein 69, Waukegan 39: Morgan Frank poured in a career-high 23 points and Hannah Buscher had 15 to help the visiting Mustangs come away with an NSC victory.

Ellie Maldonado scored 8 points and contributed a team-best 8 rebounds for the Mustangs.

Mundelein (9-17, 4-7) got out in front in a hurry by outscoring the Bulldogs 24-7 in the first quarter.
