Naperville Central's Lakstigala garners MVP accolade

Naperville Central senior Mia Lakstigala has earned Daily Herald MVP honors for her performances in recent high school girls basketball games.

Mia Lakstigala, Naperville Central: The Penn recruit led the Redhawks to a pair of important DuPage Valley Conference victories to keep Naperville Central undefeated in the league. The senior scored a game-best 18 points against defending champ Wheaton North, 11 in the fourth quarter. She followed that with 21 points at Lake Park.

Olivia Solimene, St. Viator: The senior guard, who will play at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind., got the Lions rolling in the first half of their nonconference win over visiting Prospect. She scored 10 of her 16 points (ninth double-digit scoring game of the season) in the first two quarters and also had 2 steals as the Lions went on to post a 52-44 win in the Cahill Gymnasium.

Stephanie Hart, Geneva: This 5-foot-8 senior guard and four-year starter led Geneva with 19 points in a 55-53 win over No. 3 Maine West. Hart had the assist on Madison Mallory's game-winning jumper with 1.4 seconds left. She made all four of her free throws and three of four 3-point shots while adding 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Hart also scored 13 points with 5 assists in a win over Elgin, going 5-for-5 from the field and 3-for-3 on 3-point shots.

Taylor Feltner, Antioch: A starter for the Sequoits' Class 3A supersectional squad last year, the 5-foot-3 senior guard has provided veteran leadership on a much-younger team this season. Feltner was feeling it against North Chicago, scoring a career-high 18 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals in a 54-43 win.
