Glenbard South's Bair claims MVP distinction

Glenbard South junior Maggie Bair has earned Daily Herald MVP honors for her recent high school girls basketball performances.

Maggie Bair, Glenbard South: The 6-foot-2 junior, committed to play at Drake University, earned tournament MVP honors while leading the Raiders to the Bill Neibch Falcon Classic championship at Wheaton North. She averaged 17.8 points, 13.8 rebounds and 3.3 blocks a game. She made 61 percent of her shots, 82 percent of her free throws.

Kayla Caudle, Vernon Hills: The 6-foot junior forward has been a double-double machine this season, despite missing seven games with an ankle injury. Her dominance continued in Libertyville's winter tournament. She had 4 double-doubles in as many games, as the Cougars went 3-1 and finished second. She twice scored 24 points, and averaged 18.5 points and 16 rebounds per game.

Alyssa Iverson, Harvest Christian: This 5-foot-8 senior guard led the Lions to the championship of the Lisle Holiday Cage Classic, saving her best for last with 33 points in a come-from-behind 66-59 win over No. 1 seed Walther Christian in the title game. Iverson scored the Lions' first 13 points and added 5 assists and 3 steals. Earlier in the tournament, Iverson scored 23 points against Chicago Christian, 26 points against Timothy Christian and 14 points in a semifinal win over Rosary.

Rachel Kent, Maine West: Only a junior, Kent reached the 1,000-point mark in her Maine West career when she scored 13 points to help the Warriors win the championship of the Komaromy Classic at Dundee-Crown. The all-tourney selection scored double digits in all four games, including a game-high 21 points in the semifinal win against Hononegah.
