McGraths double up on Buffalo Grove

Hersey's McGrath sisters were double trouble for Buffalo Grove on Thursday night at the Ken Carter Gymnasium in Arlington Heights.

Senior Erin McGrath collected 15 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocks while her triplet Katie had 13 points and 3 rebounds in the host Huskies' 48-36 Mid-Suburban East triumph.

Coach Mary Fendley's defending MSL champs (7-7, 3-1) scored in single digits in each of the first three quarters and led 24-21 before putting up 24 points in the final period.

Senior Claire Rogowski and freshman Mary Kate Fahey each chipped in 8 points for Hersey, which is tied for second in the East with Prospect.

Buffalo Grove (1-11, 0-4) was led by sophomores Macy Floro (two 3-pointers) and junior Jackie Bickhaus, who each scored 11 points. Senior Alyssa Floro chipped in 7 and sophomore Kendra Lee 5.

Elk Grove 37, Wheeling 27: Elk Grove coach Jen Guth watched her Grenadiers improve to 7-7 and 1-3 in the MSL East as senior Zoe Blomquist (11 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists), sophomore Megan Murray (8 points) and freshman Isabella Tierney (6 points) led the way on offense. Murray and Blomquist each hit a 3-pointer.

Sophomore Morgan Collar (12 points), senior Nansy Velev (9) and junior Nosa Igiehon (6) led Wheeling (7-5, 1-3).
