Dahlstrom dazzling for Southern Indiana

University of Southern Indiana senior forward Morgan Dahlstrom is making the most of her final season for the Screaming Eagles.

The Grayslake Central graduate has already earned her second player of the week honors in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

The senior forward capped off her most recent honorary week by scoring a career-high 35 points with 9 rebounds and 2 blocks in a 73-66 win at Indianapolis. She shot 15 of 20 from the field and 5 of 6 from the foul line.

She began the week with a 17-point, 6-rebound effort in a 67-56 win over Lewis, scoring 15 points in the second half while shooting 5 of 8) from the floor and 7 of 8) at the free throw line.

For the week, Dahlstrom averaged 26 points and 7.5 rebounds as the Screaming Eagles opened up 2-0 to in the GLVC and 8-0 overall.

• DePauw freshman Claire O'Keefe led the Tigers with 19 points in a 61-47 win over Wittenberg.

O'Keefe hit a basket to push the Tigers' lead to 36-28 and DePauw took a 45-34 lead in the fourth quarter when O'Keefe nailed a couple of free throws and a jumper.

The Tigers are ranked 15th in the latest coaches' poll with a 7-1 record and 3-0 in North Coast Athletic Conference after the win over Wittenberg.

Men's soccer

Libertyville standout and Indiana recruit Ryan Wittenbrink scored 2 goals in a 4-1 win for the West team at the High School all-American game at La Costa Field on the campus of Celebration High School in Florida.

He was named a co-MVP for the West with teammate

Wittenbrink scored five minutes into the contest for a 1-0 advantage.

His second goal made it 3-0 late in the second half.

"We showed what we're about," Wittenbrink said on the topdrawersoccer.com website, referring to the high level of high school play in Illinois, specifically the Chicagoland area.

Wittenbrink will now play for FC United Academy this spring before heading to Indiana next fall.

He was a major force in Libertyville's IHSA state runner-up finish and No. 7 rankings in the FAB 50 rankings.

Football

Wisconsin junior linebacker T.J. Edwards earned Walter Camp second-team all-American honors. He has recorded 75 tackles, 11 for a loss, 2 sacks, 4 interceptions and 1 touchdown this season.

• Southern Illinois wide receiver Connor Iwema (Warren) was named Offensive MVP for the American team at Saturday's fourth annual FCS All-Star Game in Daytona, Fla. Iwema helped Warren to the playoffs as a senior. He also played baseball and wrestled in Gurnee.
