Grayslake Central 46, Hersey 37: Hersey senior Claire Rogowski scored 13 points (three 3-pointers) while Maesyn Benjamin and Katie McGrath each chipped 6 in the first-round game of the Bison Classic hosted by Huskies, Buffalo Grove and Libertyville.

Mother McAuley 71, Barrington 42: Sophomore Taylor Thompson (22 points, 11 rebounds) led the Fillies in their season opener at the Bison Classic hosted by Hersey.

"We turned the ball over nine times in our first 14 possessions," said Fillies coach Babbi Barreiro. "We just had some opening-game jitters. It was hard to climb back out of the hole but we battled in the second half."

Barreiro said Tori Meyer (16 points) had a steady offensive game.

"And I thought Taylor (Thompson) had a real nice second half," the coach added. "In the first half we gave up too many open 3-pointers. In the second half, we gave them fewer open looks. I like this group. They'll juts keep getting better."
