Rock Island runs past Meadows

Highly-regarded Rock Island raced out to a 30-5 lead after one quarter and never looked back in a 68-38 triumph over Rolling Meadows in the opening-round game of the Turkey Thriller held in Sycamore.

The Mustangs were led by junior Lily Greifenstein's 13 points. Sophomore Bridget Rolla added 10, followed by junior Alexa Davis (7) and senior Melissa Spiwak (6).

"Lily Greifenstein had a nice game for us," said Mustangs coach Ryan Kirkorsky. "She was efficient and composed on the offensive end."

Chrislyn Cass and Brea Beal were a force for Rock Island.

Cass had four 3s and finished with 32 points, while Beal had four 3s and scored 21.
