Niles North rallies past Maine West

Niles North was in danger of losing its share of the Central Suburban North boys basketball lead when it trailed at halftime Friday night at Maine West.

But a big third quarter put the Vikings (16-6, 6-2) on their way to a 64-51 victory as they remained in a tie for first with Glenbrook North (15-5, 6-2).

 

Maine West (12-8, 4-4) was looking for a season sweep of Niles North as it led 31-28 at halftime. But Abdel Nader scored 7 of his game-high 23 points in a 21-6 third quarter that put the Vikings ahead 49-37.

Conor Hart scored 19 of his 21 points in the first half for the Warriors. Odera Eneogwe added 11 points and Kevin Garcia hit three 3s for 9 points.

Malachi Nix added 18 points for Niles North.

Rockford Christian 81, Christian Liberty 51: Luke Comerouski had 23 points and Ben Thomas added 14 as Christian Liberty lost the Northeastern Athletic Conference game at Rockford Christian (22-0), ranked eighth in the state in Class 2A.
