Naperville Central advances to Lakes title game

Naperville Central dispatched the host Eagles 83-46 at the MLK Lakes High School boys basketball tournament Saturday afternoon in the semifinal round.

The Redhawks now 13-4 will play Fremd (12-5) Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. for the championships.

In beating the now 7-10 Eagles. Naperville Central received double figure scoring from Jonah Hinton with 25 points, James Jopes and Mantas Zilys.

"We brought some good energy today," said Hinton. "Jopes got us going and then we all started to contribute. I didn't have a lot of time to warm up because I was getting by leg wrapped. But I felt good once I was out there."

"We were explosive and we have the players that can score," said Naperville Central coach Pete Kramer. "We changed defenses on them to a matchup zone and I think that gave them trouble. When Zilys started attacking the basket, that helped loosen us up.
